Spencer Fano Named Lombardi Award Semifinalist

HOUSTON — Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano has been named a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award, the Lombardi Award Committee announced on Tuesday.

The Lombardi Award was established in 1970, in memory of legendary coach Vince Lombardi. It is presented to an outstanding lineman or linebacker who best epitomizes values of leadership, courage, performance, and discipline on and off the field. Furthermore, the award is presented to a player who is consistently showing the values of strength, agility, and football acumen at their respective position.

Fano is one of 13 semifinalists for the award and one of three offensive linemen, selected from an initial preseason watchlist of more than 50 players. See the full list of semifinalists, here.

Fano has started at right tackle in all nine games so far in 2025.

Fano has started at right tackle in all nine games so far in 2025.

- PFSN's highest graded offensive lineman from Week 10 (93.5).
- Anchor of offensive line allowing longest average time to sack allowed (5.30 seconds) in college football, per PFSN
- Named to PFSN College Football Offensive Team of the Week for Week 10.
- Has allowed just five pressures and five hurries and has yet to allow a sack in 245 pass blocking opportunities, per PFF.
- Helped Utah gain 587 yards of total offense against Colorado, including 422 rushing yards, the seventh-most in a single game in program history.
- Helped Utah rush for 276 yards on 6.6 yards per carry against No. 21 Arizona State, scoring six rushing touchdowns, tied for the fifth-most in a single game in program history; did not allow a sack against the Sun Devils.
- Blocked for an offense that posted a season-high 541 yards of total offense at Wyoming (311 rushing, 230 passing).
- Blocked for an offense that put up 532 yards of total offense (242 rushing, 290 passing) at West Virginia.
- Helped Utah gain 492 yards against UCLA (286 rushing, 206 passing).
- Helped Utah gain 470 yards of offense (244 passing, 226 rushing) at No. 15 BYU.
- Part of the unit named Big 12 Offensive Line of the Week three times (Sept. 2, Oct. 13, Oct. 27).Â
