SALT LAKE CITY — The Naismith Awards announced the 2025 Jersey Mike's Naismith Women's Player of the Year Midseason Team with Utah women's basketball's Gianna Kneepkens being named a finalist.
Kneepkens is the one of four players from the Big 12 to be named to the midseason team list. She's averaging 19.2 points per game and shooting 51.3 percent from the field, 46.7 percent from the three and 91.5 percent from the free throw line.
She currently ranks No. 4 in the nation in three point percentage (46.7), No. 7 in the nation in total threes (71) and No. 6 in the nation in three pointers per game (3.09). She's also No. 11 in the nation in free throw percentage (91.5).
Kneepkens has recorded 20 or more points in eight games this season including two 28-point games. She boasted a career-high 32 points against BYU (1/25/25) that included a career-high 10 made free throws. She matched that with a 32-point game against UCF (2/8/25) She's knocked down three or more three pointers in 13 games this season and Utah is 12-1 in those games.
Recently Kneepkens became the first Ute to score 25 or more points in four consecutive games. She was named Big 12 Player of the Week earlier this season (1/27) after putting up back-to-back 30 point games. First, she put up 30 against Kansas (1/22) and later 32 against BYU (1/25).
