Kneepkens Named Cheryl Miller Top 10 Finalist

SALT LAKE CITY — The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced the Top 10 candidates for the 2025 Cheryl Miller Award with Utah women's basketball's Gianna Kneepkens being named a finalist.
The Cheryl Miller Award, in its eighth year, honors the top small forwards in women's Division I college basketball. It is named after the three-time Naismith Player of the Year and Class of 1995 Hall of Famer.
Kneepkens is the only player from the Big 12 to be named to the the Top 10 list. She is averaging 19.2 points per game and shooting 50.4 percent from the field, 46.4 percent from the three and 90.8 percent from the free throw line.
She currently ranks No. 7 in the nation in three point percentage (46.4), No. 9 in the nation in total threes (65) and No. 7 in the nation in three pointers per game (3.10). She's also No. 14 in the nation in free throw percentage (90.8).
Kneepkens has recorded 20 or more points in seven games this season including two 30-point games. She boasted a career-high 32 points against BYU (1/15/25) that included a career-high 10 made free throws. She's knocked down three or more three pointers in 12 games this season and Utah is 11-1 in those games.
Recently Kneepkens became the first Ute to score 25 or more points in four consecutive games. She was named Big 12 Player of the Week earlier this season (1/27) after putting up back-to-back 30 point games. First, she put up 30 against Kansas (1/22) and later 32 against BYU (1/25).
Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting for the Naismith Starting Five awards in both of the remaining rounds starting on Friday, February 7, on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
In March, the Top 10 list will be narrowed to just five, and in late March, the five finalists will be presented to Miller, and the Hall of Fame's selection committees, where winners will be selected.
