LUBBOCK, Texas – The University of Utah men's tennis team continued Big 12 play with a 4-1 victory over No. 69 Texas Tech. Â
Utah is now 11-5 overall on the season and move to 2-0 in Big 12 play.Â
DOUBLES
Utah started the match off strong by picking up the doubles point. Max Relic and Berk Bugarikj picked up a 6-4 win over Tyler Stewart and Ludovico Vaccari in the No. 2 spot to start things off.Â
No. 74 ranked Utah duo Reid Jarvis and Dante Teramo clinched the doubles point for the Utes with a 6-2 win over Texas Tech's No. 80 ranked Sebastian Abboud and Piotr Pawlak 6-2 in the top doubles spot.Â
Nicolas Calixto and Emmett Potter were up 5-4 in their match at the No. 3 spot before the match went unfinished.Â
SINGLESÂ
Utah started singles with a win at the No. 3 spot where Teramo defeated Stewart 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot. Bugarikj was next to pick up a win for the Utes in the No. 1 spot as he defeated Pawlak 6-4, 6-4.Â
Utah had a 3-0 advantage but Texas Tech was able to get a win at the No. 6 spot to put the Red Raiders on the board.Â
The Utes were able to clinch at the No. 4 spot where Potter defeated Ludovico Vaccari 7-6 (4), 6-2.Â
UP NEXT
The Utes will head to Stillwater, Okla. to take on Oklahoma State March 15. Utah will return home to host UNLV and Weber State in a double header on March 19th before hosting UCF March 23.Â
