The Utah men's tennis team heads to San Diego for the Ed Collins Classic, running March 7-9. The tournament features a competitive field, including USD, UCSD, ODU, Texas Tech, SDSU, UCSB, and Tulane. The Utes, currently ranked at No. 55, will face SDSU on Friday, with their remaining matchups determined by results throughout the weekend.

SCOUTING THE AZTECS
San Diego State's men's tennis team currently holds a 5-3 overall record and is 0-1 in conference play this season. The Aztecs have faced the Utes 11 times, with SDSU leading the series 7-4. However, Utah has won the last three meetings, including a decisive 7-0 victory in February 2023.
LAST TIME OUT
Utah is coming off a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Denver at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center, improving to 8-4 overall while remaining undefeated at home (4-0).
The Utes secured the doubles point with dominant performances from Berk Bugarikj and Max Relic at No. 2, as well as Reid Jarvis and Dante Teramo at No. 1. In singles play, Denver claimed the top three courts, but Emmett Potter and Teramo responded with straight-set victories at No. 5 and No. 4, respectively. With the match tied 3-3, Charles Frey delivered in the clutch, rallying for a three-set win at No. 6 to seal the victory for Utah.
HEAD COACH ROELAND BRATEANU

Roeland Brateanu, the 2023 Pac-12 Coach of the Year and a five-time ITA Mountain Region Coach of the Year, leads the Utes for his eleventh season this spring. Under Brateanu's leadership, the Utah men captured the 2023 Pac-12 Regular Season title and secured their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, advancing to its second consecutive second round appearance with a win over Old Dominion. The Utes finished with a 24-6 overall record and a No. 1 ranking in the ITA Mountain Region. Brateanu currently holds a 183-106 overall record at Utah.
