Utah Victorious in 4-2 BYU Rivalry Win

PROVO, Utah – The University of Utah men's tennis team ended the regular season with a 4-2 win over rival BYU on Thursday afternoon.
Reid Jarvis came up big for the Utes picking up a three-set tiebreak win to clinch the match for Utah.
DOUBLES
Utah set the tone early by picking up the doubles win. Berk Bugarikj and Max Relic defeated Alex Edmonston and Otto Schreiner 6-3 at the No. 2 spot to start things off for Utah. BYU then picked up a win at the No. 3 spot leaving the doubles point advantage to the No. 1 court.
Reid Jarvis and Dante Teramo battled into a tiebreak and came out victorious with a 7-6 (4) win over Wally Thayne and Zach Fuchs.
SINGLES
Utah kept the momentum in singles action. Teramo started things off with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Redd Owen at the No. 3 spot. BYU made a surge picking up wins at the No. 5 and No. 1 spots to tie the match at 2-2.
The Utes stepped up to pick up two more wins for the victory. Emmett Potter defeated Adam Chodur 6-4, 7-6 (3) at the No. 4 spot to give Utah a 3-2 edge overall in the match.
Jarvis then battled into a complete three sets with a tiebreak to clinch the match for Utah. Jarvis won the first set 6-4 but lost the second 2-6. He then went on to take a 7-6 (2) win in the third set to give Utah the win over rival BYU.
UP NEXT
The Utes will head to the Big 12 Championships April 16-20 in Waco, Texas. Information on the Big 12 Tournament including seeding, day and time and how to follow along will be announced soon.
