SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah women's basketball program announced a change today to its 2025-26 season-opening game on Nov. 3. The Utes were originally scheduled to host San Diego State on that date, but will now take on the University of Sioux Falls. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. for the annual Kids Day Game.
Utah also has added a road game on Dec. 4 against Colorado State.
The schedule change with the season opener was the result of San Diego State backing out of the contracted matchup in order to play a game against UCLA.
"It is disappointing that we had to make such a late change to our non-conference schedule," said head coach
Gavin Petersen. "We had an executed game contract with San Diego State, and we were notified by them on Sept. 3 that they were breaking the contract. We were excited about opening up against them, but unfortunately we needed to scramble to replace that game. I do want to thank both the University of Sioux Falls and Colorado State for helping us with filling the holes in our schedule."
"We look forward to sharing the floor with them, and our team is excited to have started official practices this week," Petersen added. "Onward we go, and as always…Go Utes!"
This will be the first time in program history Utah has faced off with the Sioux Falls Cougars.
Utah has a 59-15 overall record against Colorado State, including a 25-9 record in games played in Fort Collins. The last time Utah took on Colorado State was March 2, 2011, when the Utes downed the Rams 61-59 in Salt Lake City.
