SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 22 Utah Volleyball team is 5-1 on the 2025 season after an epic four-set battle with Utah Valley Tuesday night at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Utah struggled early in the match, dropping the first set (26-24), but came roaring back in sets two-four (25-22, 25-22, 25-15) to earn their fifth win of the year ahead of a big matchup against No. 1 Nebraska on Friday, Sept. 12.

SET ONE
The Utes got off to a quick start scoring the first 5 points of the set, eventually leading 8-1, but UVU climbed back into the game with a 15-12 lead mid-set.
Utah clawed their way back tying the set at 20-20, but the Wolverines eventually pulled ahead for the set win, 26-24.
SET TWO
Set two saw two lead changes and four tied scores before the Utes eventually pulled away for the win. Three Wolverine errors and two
Levani Key-Powell kills helped ice the set in Utah's favor, 25-22.
SET THREE
The tight battle between Utah and UVU continued through the third set with nine tied scores and two lead changes taking place.
Heading into the end of the set, the Utes and Wolverines were tied 21-21 but kills by Key-Powell and
Neea-Maria Joki, along with two UVU errors put Utah in the win column one more time, 25-22.
SET FOUR
Key-Powell continued her match takeover into the fourth and final set of the night earning a career-high in kills (13), attempts (27), and a season-high hitting percentage (.444).
Defensively, Utah tightened up with
Iliana Linahan,
Grace Moss, and
McKenna Payne all setting career-highs in digs (13, 6, and 11), while
Leah Wilton-LaBoy notched a season-high 12 digs.Â
The Utes finished strong offensively with Wilton-LaBoy ending her night with a career-high in assists (50),
Katelynn Field earning career-highs in kills (6) and hitting percentage (.625),
Allie Grossenbach setting a career-high in kills (7), Joki posting a season-high in kills (13), and
Emrie Moea'i tying her season-high in kills (16) for a 25-15 final set score and match win.

- Utes Total Stats: 62 kills, three service aces, 10 blocks, 60 digs.
- Utes had a dominant fourth set scoring 12 consecutive points.
- Seven Utes earned career-high stats: Key-Powell (kills-13, attempts-27, hitting percentage-.444), Field (kills-6, hitting percentage- .625), Wilton-LaBoy (assists-50), Â Grossenbach (kills-7), Linahan (digs-13), Moss (digs-6), and Payne (digs-11).
- Three Utes matched or exceeded season-high stats: Moea'i (kills-16), Joki (kills-13), Wilton-LaBoy (digs-12).
UP NEXT
The Utes turn their attention to a big road contest on Sept. 12 and 13 against No. 1 Nebraska and Drake in the Husker Invitational. Utah's match on Friday against the Huskers starts at 5 p.m. MT and can be viewed on FS1. The match on Saturday against the Bulldogs is set for a 12 p.m. MT serve time.
