Kirschman enters her fourth season as the Director of Sports Performance for the Utah women’s basketball program.
During the 2021-22 season, Kirschman was the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Central Arkansas. Working with Central Arkansas, Kirschman implemented the training programs for the women’s basketball, track and field, cross country, volleyball, softball, soccer and assisted with the Bears football team during the off-season. Along with working on training programs for athletes, she collaborated with UCA Psychology Department to improve mental health programs for athletes.
Before arriving at UCA, he spent eight years teaching and coaching at Poudre High School in Fort Collins, Colorado. She has always loved the energy and intensity of collegiate athletics and has dreamed of returning since completing her own collegiate athletic career.
As an athlete, Kirschman competed in track and field for the University of Washington from 2006-10. she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Resource Management. During her time at Washington, she competed in the heptathlon and the 800-meter. She was inducted into the Enterprise High School Hall of Fame for cross country and track and field. She is a seven-time high school cross country record holder and earned a fifth-place finish in the California State Meet in the 800-meters (2:11.7).
After spending about 18 months pursuing a Master’s degree in Range Science, she found herself sneaking away from the lab to volunteer as a coach for a local high school. She decided to leave the lab behind and pursue her greater passion of impacting young people and obtained a Master’s degree in Education from Colorado State University.
Some may consider this non-traditional academic history as a detriment to a career in Strength and Conditioning, but Kirschman actually considers it one of her greatest assets. Her experience as an educator has empowered her to develop the art of engaging and inspiring athletes.
