SALT LAKE CITY -- Ute guard Erin Gibbons was named the Western Athletic Conference Pacific Division Player of the Week on Monday. Gibbons, a 5-9 freshman guard from Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada, led Utah to wins over Washington State and Idaho last week. In the two games, Gibbons averaged 22.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, shot 50 percent (14-of-28) from the field, 35.7 percent (5-of-14) from three-point range and 75.0 percent (12-of-16) from the free throw line. She also added six assists, four steals and one block.
Against Washington State, Gibbons scored 22 points, shooting 9-of-12 from the free throw line, 3-of-9 from three-point range and grabbed four rebounds. Against Idaho, Gibbons scored a career-high 23 points, going 9-of-14 from the field and 2-of-5 from three-point range. She also added three rebounds, dished out four assists and recorded two steals.
