SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah forward Lori Red was the Western Athletic Conference Pacific Division women's basketball player of the week on Monday.
Red, a sophomore forward from Provo, Utah (Provo HS), led Utah to a 74-60 home win over San Diego State and an 82-51 home victory over Hawai'i. With the wins, the Utes improved their overall record to 11-4 and 2-1 in the WAC. For the week, Red averaged 17.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, shot .538 (14-of-26) from the field, .375 (3-of-8) from three-point range and 1.000 (4-of-4) from the free throw line. She also dished out 10 assists, added five steals and recorded one block.
Against San Diego State, Red scored a game-high 19 points, making 7-of-11 field goals and 3-of-4 three pointers. Against Hawai'i, she scored 16 points, dished out a game-high eight assists and added three steals.
It is the second time this season that Red has earned WAC Player of the Week honors.
