Colorado Springs, Colo. - Utah center Lauren Beckman was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, marking her second award this season and second of her career.
A 6-2 junior from Elko, Nev., Beckman helped the No. 17-ranked Utes extend their conference win streak to 11 games after a pair of conference victories last week. Utah, 20-2 and 9-0 in MWC play, upended San Diego State, 62-45, and UNLV, 74-43.
Beckman scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and grabbed six rebounds vs. the Aztecs. She tallied a career-high 16 rebounds and scored 19 points vs. the Rebels, marking her league-leading seventh double-double of the season. Her 16-rebound performance is the second-highest single-game total of the season in the MWC. She converted a season-high 11-of-13 free throws (84.6 percent) vs. UNLV, and she was also 2-for-2 from the line vs. SDSU.
