SALT LAKE CITY - Utah freshman Kim Smith, the Mountain West Conference Player and Newcomer of the Year, has been named a finalist for the 2003 NCAA Division I Kodak/Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America Team. Smith was one of four freshmen nationally to make the list.
Joining Smith from Region 7, which includes member schools from the Mountain West, Western Athletic and Big Sky conferences, were Ashley Augsberger of Colorado State, Carrie Bacon of Wyoming, Allison Curtain of Tulsa and Cheryl Ford of Louisiana Tech.
The NCAA Division I Kodak/WBCA All-America Women's Basketball Team will be announced at the Kodak Press Conference prior to the WBCA's "Night of All-Stars" at 4 p.m. (EST) on April 4, at Georgia Tech's Alexander Memorial Coliseum in Atlanta, Ga. Ten players will be named All-Americans. The other 30 are honorable mention selections.

Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game as an amateur sport for women and girls.
