SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Head Coach Elaine Elliott today announced the hiring of Carolyn DeHoff as an assistant coach for the Ute women's basketball team. DeHoff comes to Utah after spending the last five years as an assistant at Weber State.
"We are fortunate to land someone with Carolyn's experience and skills," Elliott said. "She will allow for a very smooth transition in our staff."
DeHoff will scout and have game preparation duties, assist with recruiting duties, individual post player development, and direct summer camps.
At Weber, DeHoff supported the head coach with practice and game management, oversaw recruitment, scheduled non-conference opponents, coordinated travel, established an annual alumni game and reception, and implemented two high school basketball jamborees.
During her time there, the Wildcats went from a perennial sub-.500 program to a back-to-back NCAA Tournament participant. The team won consecutive Big Sky Championships, achieved its highest RPI in school history and had back-to-back 20-win seasons.
Prior to her stint at Weber State, DeHoff served for seven years as the head assistant at the University of Wyoming, where she coordinated recruitment, and arranged and managed team travel.
Before returning to her home state of Wyoming, DeHoff was an assistant basketball coach at Coronado High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., where she helped lead the Dons to back-to-back state championships.
DeHoff was a Street & Smith All-American her senior year at East High School in Cheyenne, Wyo. From 1987-90, she was a standout player and team captain at Arizona State University. In 1989, she toured with the Pac-10 All-Star Team that competed in Hungary. While at Arizona State, DeHoff was a Dean's List Outstanding Scholar.
A native of Cheyenne, Wyoming DeHoff graduated from Arizona State in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and physical education.
