SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic - The Canadian National Team, which includes Utah women's basketball players Kim Smith and Shona Thorburn, dropped its first two contests at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, over the weekend.
Team Canada lost its opening game 62-53 to Brazil. Smith led the team with 10 points and six rebounds, while Thorburn added seven points.
On Sunday, the Canucks lost a close game to the United State, 56-53, despite outrebounding the Americans 35-28. Smith finished with 10 points in the loss.
Team Canada faces the Dominican Republic today at 1 p.m. (EST).
