Utah Women's Basketball Diary #1
For the month of November, I have been asked to write a weekly update on what's happening in our program. It is a privilege to give our fans an insider's look at the Ute women's basketball team.
Since October 16 we have been holding official practice. It is going really well. The team is excited to get going and play our first game on Nov. 19th against Stanford.
Before practice began, the team finished a six-week weight training and conditioning program that prepared us well for what is ahead. We lifted weights four times a weeks and conditioned four times as well. It was very intense and difficult but well worth the effort.
The conditioning and strength training allowed our freshman to get acquainted and adjusted to weight lifting. Our upperclassman showed improvement from last year's results, which is very encouraging.
After playing our first exhibition game, we have a lot to work on. But we're encouraged about how far we have come since the first day of practice. There is still one more exhibition before games start to count, so we look forward to improving that much more until then.
This year, we have an incredible home schedule that our coaches have put into place. We hope to get fans out more than ever before. At least two nationally-ranked teams are coming to the Huntsman Center early this season. We look forward to having a lot of Ute fans there to support us in those - and all - our games this year.
