Moderator: Utah sophomore All-America candidate Kim Smith will be joining us shortly, please continue to use the form below to submit your questions as we await her arrival.

Kim Smith: Hello everyone. I'm ready for your questions!

Jackson (Salt Lake City): How would you compare this year's team with last year's?

Kim Smith: I think we are very similar. We have all five starters back and because we are playing more and more together as a team we are maturing.

Aaron (Perth, Australia): You guys are having another incredible year, similar to last; to what do you attribute your great success?

Kim Smith: Great coaching. We all want to get better. We go hard every day at practice. Our coaches have great practice and game plans for us.

Kris, St Louis, MO: Which is the hardest arena to play at in the Mountain West Conference?

Kim Smith: The Pit at New Mexico. They just pack the place. It's a fun place to play in.

Christine (Denver): Kim - I can't wait to see you play in Denver. Are you excited about the tournament moving to an NBA facility and a neutral site at Pepsi Center?

Kim Smith: Yes, it should be an awesome facility to plan in. There is no longer a home court for any team and we are looking forward to coming to Denver.

Pat: Vancouver, BC: What made you choose the U. of Utah rather than complete your education in Canada?

Kim Smith: Canada does not offer full ride scholarships. I loved the campus on my visit and I loved the style of play the team played.

James (Toronto): Besides school work, practice, games, traveling, national team commitments, etc., do you have any free time? What do you like to do?

Kim Smith: I do have free time. I live with a group of people and I like to hang out with them or go to the movies. We have a hot tub at the house and I enjoy spending time in it. I also like to hang out with Shona.

Ed SLC: If you could add any rule from international play to the NCAA what would it be?

Kim Smith: I guess I would have to say the backcourt rule where you only have eight seconds to bring the ball up the court.

Paul (Vancouver): Do you feel any responsibility in being a role model given that you are now widely recognized as the future of Canadian basketball and possibly the best player that Canada has ever produced (certainly at this stage in your career)? Sorry if you are listening Stacey (Dales-Schuman)

Kim Smith: WOW! Thanks for the compliment. I would consider myself a role model in Canada. I like to give back to the community and help youngsters out at camps. Hopefully some of them will follow in my footsteps.

Jackson Rose: What do you think of your fans? What will you miss the most when you leave the U.?

Kim Smith: Our fans are awesome! The ones that come out are so supportive of us and enjoy women's basketball. The atmosphere here is a lot of fun and playing college basketball is really exciting.

Steve (Provo): Where do you see yourself three years from now?

Kim Smith: I definitely want to continue playing basketball. I'd love to play in the WNBA and if not there then I will play overseas in Europe.

Paul SLC: How does Coach Elliot compare to your national team coaches in terms of strategy, preparation, personality etc

Kim Smith: I would have to say they both have a big emphasis on defense and fundamentals. They both run a motion style which I really enjoy. They are both great defensive coaches.

Bruce, Salt Lake City: Congratulations on all you have accomplished! My daughters and I immensely enjoy attending the games and seeing you on TV. Several outstanding Canadians have been with the Utes in recent years. Does this mean that Utah is a high-profile program amongst Canadian women hoopsters? What other teams in the US recruited you? Thanks to you, Shona and Shauna for choosing Utah!!

Kim Smith: Yes, I would say it is. But Utah also recruits in Canada, not a lot of schools do that. Utah does a great job of recruiting and searching for players.

I was also recruited by the University of Oregon and Oregon State University.

Marie (Salt Lake City): Kim, in your opinion, what's the biggest difference between the game in Canada versus the States?

Kim Smith: I wouldn't really say there is a big difference. There are more people playing in the US and the US has a farther back 3-point line. With more people playing in the US there is a bigger base of athletes which makes the competition level better in the United States.

Steve SLC: What is your favorite restaurant in Salt Lake and your favorite place to hang out when going to other MWC cities?

Kim Smith: TGI Fridays is my favorite in SLC. My favorites road trips are San Diego and Las Vegas as they are warmer and fun places to go.

mike - vancouver/colorado: Hey Kim, Just wanted to congratulate you on the season so far and wish you good luck in the upcoming 6 weeks. How does it feel to be on the Wade watch list as a sophomore. Keep up the good work.

Kim Smith: It is a great honor. It is a bigger testimony to the team than myself s it says I am surrounded by great players and great coaches here at the U.

Brian (Toronto): I just wanted to say that your high school team (Heritage Park) in B.C. would have to go down as the greatest women's' high school team in Canadian history by a very wide margin. Are you still in touch with your former high school teammates? (Julia Wilson, Katja Fuess, Sarah Stroh, Lisa Sigurdson, and company)

Kim Smith: I still talk to a lot of them and we keep up on how each other are doing, in school as well as how each others doing career wise.

Rupert Ogden: What is the earliest age you remember playing basketball? When did you first meet Shona?

Kim Smith: Grade 2 with my Dad and older sister. Shona and I are from opposite sides of the country so we didn't start playing until Grade 11 on the junior national team.
