SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah has released its 2004-05 women's basketball schedule. The Utes will face a tough non-conference schedule and will play 18 games, including two exhibitions, at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Utah could face as many as six non-conference opponents who were part of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament last season. The Utes host Stanford, Texas Christian, Oklahoma and Montana, who were all in the NCAA Tournament last season. Utah also travels to Loyola Marymount, which was in the NCAA field as well. The Utes could also match up with Georgia, which was a tournament team last season, at a tournament in Hawaii over Thanksgiving. Mountain West Conference rival New Mexico, which took part in the NCAA Tournament last season, will be on the schedule twice. Utah's home matchup with the Lobos will be televised nationally on ESPN2 on Feb. 13. The Utes play two exhibition games in November, before opening the regular season with a Nov. 19 date against Stanford. December's schedule is highlighted by visits to Salt Lake City from TCU and Oklahoma. Utah also travels to Los Angeles to face Loyola Marymount and to Spokane, Wash. to take on Gonzaga in December. The Utes are at home for the first half of January, a five-game homestand, which includes their first two Mountain West Conference games. There are five home games on the docket for February, including the nationally-televised contest with New Mexico. Utah wraps up the regular season with a three-game road trip, ending March 5 at Nevada-Las Vegas. The Mountain West Conference Tournament is slated for March 9-12 at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo. -30-
