SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's basketball team enters the 2005-06 campaign in both the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Top 25. The AP ranking was released Tuesday, with the Utes coming in at No. 22. Last week, the coaches slotted Utah at No. 21.
Duke, Tennessee, LSU, Ohio State and Rutgers made up the top five in the AP rankings. Defending national champion Baylor was No. 6, while North Carolina, Georgia, Connecticut and Michigan State rounded out the top 10.
One Utah opponent is ranked in the Top 25. The Utes will face North Carolina State, which came in at No. 23, on Dec. 17 in a tournament in Las Vegas. Utah could also face 15th-ranked Notre Dame during that tournament in Las Vegas, depending on first-round outcomes.
