SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah head women's basketball coach Elaine Elliott has announced the signing of three student-athletes to national letters-of-intent. Hennasea Tokumura (Honolulu, Hawaii), Brette Ulsaker (McPherson, Kan.) and Kalee Whipple (Hiko, Nev.) will all join the Utes in 2006-07.
"We needed to strengthen our guard play as we graduate three senior perimeter players," Elliott said. "This class fills that need."
The following is an in-depth look at each of the Utes' recruits:
? Hennasea Tokumura (5-4, Guard, Honolulu/Iolani High School)

Coach Elliott Says - "A true point guard with shooting, set up and finish skills. She is a student of the game and relishes the role of floor general."
Iolani Head Coach Glenn Takara Says - "Hennasea's statistics on the floor, the awards she has won in recognition of her play, both with her high school and club teams, speak of a tremendous competitor. Besides the talent she brings, perhaps her greatest quality is her competitive nature. She just hates to lose, and that is an attitude that coaches love and dream about. In Hennasea, the Utes will get a young lady with a great desire and an intense ambition to be the best she can be, both on and off the floor."
Kalakaua AAU Coach Mike Taylor Says - "I am really excited about the opportunity that Hennasea will have in attending the University of Utah and getting a top-notch education. She's a special kid who is just beginning to understand her potential to be great."
Hennasea Tokumura Says - "The University of Utah is the best of all worlds. The Utes are a combination of a legendary head coach and outstanding assistant coaches in a top-20 Division I program. Plus, I'll get a great education."
