Utah Continues Homestand Against Loyola Marymount
The No. 22/25-ranked University of Utah women's basketball team remains in the friendly confines of the Jon M. Huntsman Center Saturday afternoon, playing the second of a four-game homestand. The Utes will host Loyola Marymount in a 3 p.m. tipoff.
Utah is coming off a stretch of three straight games against Pacific-10 Conference opponents. The Utes went 2-1 in that stretch. Utah fell to Washington 63-56 in Seattle, rebounded for a 63-66 road win at Arizona and then defeated Oregon State 62-53 at home Thursday.
Kim Smith scored a game-high and season-high 22 points in the win over Oregon State. She tallied 16 of those points in the second half and seven in the last two minutes from the free-throw line. Julie Larsen hit three big first-half three-pointers and finished with 14 points.
The contest against Loyola Marymount is part of Utah's longest homestand of the season. The Utes are in the midst of four home games in 10 days.
Utah last faced the Lions last season, taking a 56-33 victory in Los Angeles. The Utes held Loyola Marymount to just nine second-half points in that victory.
