COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah forward Kim Smith was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week Monday, marking her sixth career honor and third this season.
Smith, a 6-1 senior from Mission, B.C., scored 20 points or more for the seventh and eighth times this season in wins against Air Force (90-45) and UNLV (59-51). She has scored 20-plus points 31 times in her career.
Her 27-point game against Air Force and 21-point game against UNLV marked the 15th and 16th times she has reached double figures this season, raising her double-figure scoring streak to 108 in 113 career games. Against the Falcons, she scored 27 points in 28 minutes and missed just one shot from the field.
Against the Rebels, she scored more than one-third of Utah's points, including two points during Utah's deciding 9-0 run in the second half.
For the week, Smith averaged 24.0 points and 5.5 rebounds, while collecting five assists and four steals. She shot an average of 66.7 percent from the field (18-for-27), including 10-for-11 from the field (.909) against Air Force.
