Utah Women Host Wyoming Thursday Night
The Mountain West Conference basketball season will hit the halfway point Thursday. The University of Utah women will host Wyoming in a 7 p.m. contest at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Both the Utes and Cowgirls enter the contest at 4-3 in MWC games and tied for fourth place in the league standings. Wyoming is 14-4 overall, while Utah is 13-5 so far this season.
Utah leads the overall series with Wyoming by a 51-6 margin. The Utes have won 28 straight meetings over the Cowgirls and have only lost once in Salt Lake City.
Wyoming is paced by sophomore Hanna Zavecz. The Australia native averages 13.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game to lead the Cowgirls in both categories. Jodi Bolerjack is the only other Wyoming player to average in double figures. She scores 13.1 points per contest.
The Cowgirls have won their last two outings, including an overtime decision over Colorado State and an 11-point win at San Diego State. Wyoming's losses in conference play have come to UNLV, New Mexico and BYU.
