Utah Women's Basketball 2006-07 Schedule
SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah released its women's basketball schedule Tuesday afternoon.
The Utes' first action of the season will be an exhibition contest Nov. 4 against Albertson College at the Huntsman Center. Another exhibition - with Ft. Lewis College - is slated for Nov. 7.
Utah's first regular season contest is on the road in Spokane, Wash. against Gonzaga. The Utes' will play their home opener on Nov. 13, hosting Fresno State. That contest is Utah's only regular-season home game in November. The Utes play at Utah Valley State, in a Thanksgiving tournament at the University of Oregon and at Weber State to wrap up November.
December is highlighted by a stretch of three straight games against Pacific-10 Conference opponents. Utah is home Dec. 1 against Long Beach State, before beginning the trio of Pac-10 games with a home tilt against Southern California on Dec. 4. The Utes host Arizona on Dec. 9 before playing at Stanford on Nov. 16. After hosting Montana State, Utah will make a cross-country trip to play Georgetown in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 30.
Utah will most likely add one more non-conference home game in the month of December.
Mountain West Conference play opens with San Diego State visiting the Huntsman Center on Jan. 4. The Utes then hit the road for three straight - at New Mexico, Colorado State and UNLV. TCU comes to the Huntsman Center on Jan. 18 to begin a three-game homestand, which also includes games against Air Force (Jan. 20) and BYU (Jan. 27).
February begins with a road trip to Laramie and a matchup with the Wyoming Cowgirls on Feb. 1. Two days later, the Utes head for San Diego to face the Aztecs to begin the second trip through league play. Utah then gets three straight contests at home - New Mexico on Feb. 8, Colorado State on Feb. 10 and UNLV on Feb. 15. The Utes wrap up February with three straight road outings, visiting TCU, Air Force and BYU. A home date with Wyoming ends the regular season on March 3.
The Utah women's basketball team was 27-7 last season and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship tournament. The Utes also won the Mountain West Conference Tournament Championship in 2005-06.
