Utah's Warburton Named MWC Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah sophomore guard Morgan Warburton has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, earning her first career honor.
The Helper, Utah, native averaged 20 points in wins at Colorado State, 73-57, and UNLV, 49-37, last week, helping the Utes remain undefeated in MWC action.
Against the Rams, Warburton scored six in a row en route to 11 first-half points as Utah came from behind to take a lead it would not relinquish. She scored 20 points in the game, while shooting 8-for-10 from the field and two-for-two from beyond the arc. Warburton also dished out a career-high seven assists against the Rams.
At UNLV, Warburton matched her earlier output with another 20-point performance, scoring 15 of Utah's 38 second-half points as the Utes came back from a 20-11 deficit. She sank a three-pointer with 15 minutes left in the game to put Utah on top for good.
On the week, Warburton netted 40 points on 14-for-28 (.500) shooting, was 9-for-12 (.750) from the free throw line, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out nine assists.
Warburton's recognition marks the third MWC Player of the Week award for Utah this season. Kalee Whipple and Joh-Teena Filipe have also garnered the award for the Utes.
