Utes Host Aztecs in MWC Opener
The University of Utah women's basketball team hosts San Diego State Thursday night at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. It is the Mountain West Conference opener for both squads.
Utah wrapped up non-conference play with a 7-6 record. The Utes dropped a 60-57 decision to Georgetown in Washington, D.C. on Saturday. Utah trailed the entire contest vs. the Hoyas. San Diego State is coming off a 76-42 setback at the hands of George Washington, dropping its record to 7-4. The Aztecs had won six straight prior to the loss to the nationally-ranked Colonials.
This is the second time Utah and San Diego State have met in the Mountain West Conference opener. Utah is 5-1 all-time in MWC lid-lifters, while San Diego State holds a record of 1-5 in MWC openers.
Utah Fast Breaks
? Utah is 6-0 this season when scoring 66 points or more.

? Utah has scored less than its opponent in the second half just four times this season. The Utes are 1-3 in those games, with the lone win coming in double overtime.
? The Utes are averaging 13.8 offensive boards per game, compared to 9.8 for the opposition.
? Utah is 6-1 in Mountain West Conference openers and 3-0 when those games were at home.

Utes Bangin' Boards
Utah has been dominant on the boards throughout non-conference play in 2006-07. The Utes have won or tied in the rebounding battle in 12 of 13 games. Utah has out-rebounded the opposition by seven or more in 10 of its 13 contests. Utah's average rebound margin of +8.7 is easily the best in the Mountain West Conference. Utah's 15-rebound edge against Georgetown Saturday marked the sixth time Utah has held a double-digit advantage on the boards. The Utes are also tops in the MWC in rebounding defense, giving up just 30.7 caroms a contest.
