SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's basketball team will participate in the 2008 NCAA Women's Basketball Pack the House Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 2. That date features the Utes and perennial Mountain West Conference power Colorado State. Tipoff in the Huntsman Center is set for 3 p.m.
In addition to top-notch basketball, the evening will feature a smattering of promotions. Utah will host a free-of-charge post-game youth clinic. Those interested in the clinic can pre-register on the women's basketball page at UtahUtes.com.
Also, the first 1000 fans through the gate will receive a Utah women's basketball rally towel, and there will be giveaways for free Dreyer's ice cream, free pizza from Pizza Hut, and tickets for upcoming men's and women's basketball games.
Each institution will compete against all Division I schools and fellow conference members to "Pack the House" at a home game from January 1 - February 17.
The 32 conference winners will be announced on March 3, 2008. Judging criteria includes marketing plan creativity and attendance figures, including a sellout or the largest percentage increase from the previous year's single-game record attendance. The NCAA will make a $500 donation to a non-profit organization (of each institution's choice and subject to approval by the NCAA) on behalf of each of the 32 winners.
