The Tipoff
The No. 20/23 University of Utah women's basketball team (17-3 overall, 7-0 Mountain West) completes its first time through the league when it plays at UNLV on Wednesday. Tipoff in Cox Pavilion is set for 7 p.m. (PT). First-place Utah is riding a 13-game winning streak, not having lost since a 62-45 setback at USC way back on Dec. 3, 2007. Last week, the Utes rode the effort of Co-Mountain West Conference Player of the Week, Morgan Warburton, in upsetting then-No. 15/16 Wyoming, 60-59, on the road. Utah returned home to bounce Colorado State, 68-28. The Rebels enter action this week with a 6-14 overall mark, and with a 2-5 league tally. They are currently seventh in the conference. UNLV is looking to snap a five-game losing streak. Last week, it lost to TCU, 56-38, and at New Mexico, 94-64.

UNLV enters the contest with a 6-14 record. It is currently seventh in the Mountain West Conference with a 2-5 league tally. The Rebels have lost five straight games, and eight of their last 10. Sequoia Holmes averages a league-high 18.0 points per game, connecting on 40.3 percent of her attempts. Shamela Hampton is second on the team with 10.9 points. Holmes is the team's top rebounder, clearing 7.1 boards per game. Her rebounding average ranks fourth in the conference. Regina Miller is in her 10th season at the helm at UNLV.
