KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Former Utah All-American Leilani Mitchell has been recognized on the Ring of Honor display at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. The Ring of Honor consists of over 100 jerseys of the top high school, college and WNBA players from the past season.
The Kennewick, Wash., native asserted herself as one of the top collegiate point guards in the country last season. She was one of three finalists for the Lieberman Award, given to the top Division I point guard, and was named a third-team All-American by both the Associated Press and CBSsports.com. She also earned honorable mention All-America accolades from the WBCA. In addition, Mitchell won the Mountain West Conference Player and Newcomer of the Year awards and was a first-team all-conference pick.
Mitchell was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in the second round of the WNBA draft and was traded to the New York Liberty. She is currently in the playoffs with the Liberty.
