As the Utes gear up for their first exhibition game, senior Sasha McKinnon checks in below.
Hello Hello Everyone!!
Well after our first two full weeks of practice, we're starting to make some nice progress and actually look like a team. We had a closed scrimmage against ISU (Idaho State University) on Saturday, which gave us a good idea of where we're at so far. We still have a ways to go but I am super excited for the journey ahead of us. Even though we're pretty young, I think we are going to really come together and be extremely successful. Our defense needs some work but we are doing tons of breakdown to help us, but our offense is really coming along. Something we have become extremely good at is finishing out possessions even if there is a mistake or two made and our play gets messed up or a little sloppy. We seem to just keep playing and working with each other, which still typically gets us a good shot as the shot clock runs down. I can not even tell you how excited I am, but I am sure it isn't just me that's this excited. I know for sure every player is counting down the days till game time!
As for me, in case anyone was wondering I am the healthiest and happiest I have been in the past few years. My knees are doing really well with only the few expected little aches and pains but nothing major so I am trying to catch up and make up for lost time. It has been a while since I have actually made it this long injury free so everyone please knock on wood for me!! Anyways, I hope you are all as excited about the start of season as much as the team is. Our hard work is bound to pay off but we are going to need as much support from fans as possible. Thank you for reading my little blog this week and thank you so much for the continual support to the team! We appreciate every bit of it and we look forward to seeing all your lovely little faces as our exhibition game this Friday, November 6th. Oh, and feel free to paint your faces and get crazy haha!!
