SALT LAKE CITY - As part of University of Utah's `Power of Pink' promotions across campus to spread awareness about breast cancer, the women's basketball team visited the Huntsman Cancer Center recently to visit with patients and their families.
"We really wanted to spend a week making a statement on more than just the game," head coach Elaine Elliott said. "We wanted to go out and make sure that the people who are being affected the most - the ones being treated - understand that we are working to develop awareness and hope for a cure."
During their visit to the Huntsman Cancer Center the team passed out Ute shirts to patients. Utah held their `Power of Pink' game on Sunday, Feb. 8, a 64-57 win over TCU.
"You get caught up in your own life sometimes and you take things for granted," senior guard Morgan Warburton said. "It's good for us to put things in perspective. It's good to know that we can go acknowledge those people fighting for their lives and let them know that we are supporting them."
