SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team closes out its home season on Wednesday, March 4, against New Mexico at 7:00 p.m. The game will be on radio live on 1280 AM while live stats and video will be available at UtahUtes.com.
Seniors Morgan Warburton, Katie King and Deanne Stevenson will be honored in a pregame ceremony.
Utah (19-8, 12-2 MWC) is looking to clinch a share of the regular-season conference championship with a win against New Mexico. The Utes would win the outright title by winning both of its last two games. Utah is aiming for one of two first and second round byes in the Mountain West Conference tournament by becoming the No. 1 or No. 2 seed. Trailing the Utes in the conference race are San Diego State (11-3) and TCU (11-4).
The Lobos are a solid team, going 19-8 on the year and 8-6 on the conference, but the team struggles on the road with a 4-6 record away from the Pit. Amy Beggin is averaging 15.2 poits per game with 109 assists. Angela Hartill is also in double figures with 11.4 points per game. Amanda Adamson has a team-high 5.9 rebounds per game.
Utah's 53-50 victory in Albuquerque on Feb. 1 was one of the Utes biggest wins this year. Utah overcame a six-point deficit with less than two minutes remaining to defeat the Lobos. The rally culminated in a running three-point shot from Warburton with six seconds remaining for the win.
