The Utah women's basketball team is on a tour of Italy through May 19. Today, Kalee Whipple and Janita Badon share their thoughts on the trip.
Whipple Scores 15 in Win Over Firenze Basket
We are over here in Italy playing, as you know. The team is having a great time. Italy is amazing and has been a bit overwhelming, at times, with all the history to see. Elaine has sent us on what seems to be 20 mile walks, but it has been worth it. We see more of the city that way, but my legs feel more like I have a run a marathon. We have gotten to see many historical sites in Rome and have really enjoyed the shopping it has to offer. We have gotten to see the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel and all of the amazing art that is there. That has been my favorite spot so far. I have never seen anything like it. Today was a great shopping day and also our first game. I will assure you we won, but not in pretty fashion. A win is a win though. We had a slow start, trying to adjust to the style of play and the differences over here, but we came through in the second half. We have some things to work on, but it is exciting to see what our future team can look like. Ciao Ciao for now.

I want to start off by saying this is an experience of a lifetime and I want to thank everyone who has helped make this trip possible. We had our first game today! It was started off with doubt, but we picked it up towards the end, and won the game by ten points. It was great way to start off our Italy/09-10 season. As for Italy, it is amazing, except for my personal food selection. I thought if I asked for a grilled cheese, it would be the same as in the states. Well, they took me literally and brought me a grilled piece of cheese. That's it, no bread. Ha. Other than that we are enjoying our time here, glad we are on the court, but missing our fans. See you soon.
