SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team is preparing for an 11-day, four-game trip to Italy, May 9-19.
"This is a great opportunity to experience the world from a different perspective," head coach Elaine Elliott said. "The interactions we have culturally and athletically will promote the individual growth we aspire to with all of our athletes."
The Utes will play four games while overseas, highlighted by A1 league team GEAS Sesto San Giovanni, along with games against Santa Marinella, Firenze Basket and Marghera. A complete schedule of games and teams is below.
Sighting stops along the way include the Vatican, Colosseum and Leaning Tower of Pisa as well as the cities of Rome, Venice and Florence.
The Utes have made several trips abroad over the years, including stops in France, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Utah's last trip overseas was in 2005 to Spain and Portugal.
