SALT LAKE CITY - With three players in double figures, the Utah women's basketball team closed out its non-conference schedule with a 65-30 win over Utah Valley.
Taryn Wicijowski led the Utes with 16 points while Kalee Whipple had 11. Iwalani Rodrigues tallied a career-best 10 points. Janita Badon had a team-high nine rebounds and five steals.
The last time that Utah held an opponent to 30 points in a game was in the NCAA Tournament last year against Villanova in a 60-30 Ute win.
With Utah up 7-6 with 16:30 left in the first half, the Utes quickly pulled ahead to a 16-point lead with a 17-2 run over the next eight minutes. The team continued to pull away, ending the first half on a 10-0 run over the final four minutes for a 37-13 lead at halftime. Whipple had all 11 points with three steals in the first half. Julie Smith scored nine of UVU's 13 points in the half.
Utah held as much as a 41-point lead in the second half while substituting liberally.
Diana Rolniak made five blocks with seven rebounds and Halie Sawyer had eight rebounds.
Utah Valley was led by 12 points from Jenna Johnson.
The Utes hit the road for the first time in over a month this weekend, taking their five-game winning streak on the road to face TCU to begin Mountain West Conference action. TCU is ranked 25th in the latest Associated Press poll.
