COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah senior Kalee Whipple has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week. It is Whipple's seventh career weekly honor.
Whipple scored 20 points, including 11 in the second half, to lead the Utes to a road victory over Colorado State. The Hiko, Nev., native made 8-of-16 (.500) shots from the floor, including a game-tying three-pointer with 2:42 left to tie the score at 63-63. Whipple went on to clinch the 68-65 win for the Utes by hitting two free throws with 29 seconds remaining. She also grabbed five rebounds, had two assists and recorded two steals in the triumph.
Whipple shares the honor with New Mexico senior Georonika Jackson.
Whipple ranks second in the MWC in scoring (16.1 points per game).
The Utes face TCU in the Huntsman Center on Wednesday, Feb. 10.
