LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Utah women's basketball team moves into the semifinal round of the Mountain West Conference Tournament to play No. 1 seed TCU on Friday, March 12, at noon PT. The game is televised live by The Mtn. and radio can be found on KALL 700.
The Utes have a day off on Thursday. Through Utah's first two games of the tournament, Taryn Wicijowski is averaging 23.0 points per game with a .714 shooting percentage (20-for-28). Kalee Whipple is averaging a double-double with 14.0 rebounds per game and 10.5 points per game.
TCU earned the outright MWC regular-season championship with a 12-4 conference record. The Horned Frogs are 22-7 on the year and have been in and out of the top 25 during the season.
MWC Player of the Year Helena Sverrisdottier leads TCU with 13.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, a league-high 5.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Emily Carter is averaging 14.8 points per game while Starr Crawford is pulling down 8.9 rebounds per game.
The Utes are 0-2 against TCU this year, falling 62-41 in Fort Worth on Jan. 9 while also dropping a four-overtime thriller in the Huntsman Center on Feb. 10, 105-96. The game was the longest in MWC history. Whipple scored an MWC-record 45 points in the contest.
