Former Utah point guard Leilani Mitchell is entering her third season with the WNBA's New York Liberty.
Mitchell started the Liberty's first game of the season on May 16, an 85-82 win over Chicago, playing 25 minutes and dishing out nine assists.
Mitchell was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in 2008 in the second round of the draft as the No. 25 overall pick. She played one year at Utah and was a finalist for the Lieberman Award (given to the top Division I point guard), and was named a third-team All-American by both the Associated Press and CBSsports.com. She also earned honorable mention All-America accolades from the WBCA. In addition, Mitchell won the Mountain West Conference Player and Newcomer of the Year awards and was a first team all-conference pick.
Mitchell is one of six former women's basketball players from the Mountain West Conference currently playing in the WNBA.
