COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Incoming women's basketball player Michelle Plouffe has led the Canadian Junior Women's National Team to a Pool A victory at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship.
The Canadians went 3-0 in Pool A, defeating Chile, Mexico and Costa Rica. Canada moves on to the medal round semifinals, which begin on Saturday.
In Wednesday's 77-31 opening game win against Mexico, Plouffe scored 10 points with seven rebounds. She had a breakout game on Thursday against Chile, posting a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead Canada to a 66-33 win. The Canadians closed out Pool A play with a 74-18 win over Costa Rica, leading all players with 13 points and just missing her second tournament double-double with nine rebounds.
The tournament is being contested at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
