COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Incoming women's basketball player Michelle Plouffe led the Canadian Junior Women's National Team to a bronze medal at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship over the weekend.
After starting the tournament 3-0 to reach the medal round semifinals, the Canadians suffered a heartbreaker to Brazil, 50-49. Plouffe tied for the team lead with 12 points and had eight rebounds.
In the bronze medal game, Canada beat Chile for the second time in the tournament, 81-42. Plouffe had her second double-double of the tournament with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds with five steals.
Plouffe averaged 14.4 points and 9.4 rebounds over the five games to rank among the tournament leaders.
