SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team saw its five-game winning streak snapped by BYU on Wednesday. The Utes look to get back on track Saturday, Jan. 15, against Wyoming at 3:00 p.m.
Expect a defensive battle, as Utah is holding teams to 56.5 points per game with Wyoming's opponents averaging 55.6 points per game.
The first 100 fans will receive Utah bracelets. The `Kids Zone' will open at 2:00 p.m. with Swoop, a face painter, balloon artist, poster-making station, free candy, and more.
Michelle Plouffe had her sixth double-double of the year with 20 points and 11 rebounds on Wednesday in Utah's 68-50 loss to BYU. Her six double-doubles is tied for the league lead.
Wyoming saw its own five-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday with a 68-47 loss to TCU. The Cowgirls have won seven of their last nine games for an 11-4 record on the year.
Wyoming is led by Hillary Carlson and Aubrey Vandiver. Carlson is averaging 17.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, along with 2.4 blocks per game. She was a preseason all-MWC pick. Vandiver leads the conference with 9.5 rebounds per game to go with 17.6 points per game.
"Wyoming is a very well-coached team that is sound both offensively and defensively," Utah interim head coach Anthony Levrets said. "They will challenge us at both ends of the floor."
Utah holds a 59-8 all-time record against Wyoming, but the Utes and Cowgirls have traditionally played hard-fought battles. Utah has won the last six games of the series with the last Wyoming win coming in 2007.
Wyoming head coach Joe Legerski spent time as both an assistant (1991-98) and associate head coach (1998-03) at Utah. Current Utah assistant Matt Legerski is his nephew.
