SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team plays its first conference road game of the season against San Diego State on Saturday, Jan. 8, at 2:30 p.m. PT. The game will be televised on The Mtn.
The Utes are aiming to continue their four-game winning streak.
"I am very pleased with our development," Utah interim head coach Anthony Levrets said. "We continue to get better with every practice and every game."
Utah opened its final season in Mountain West Conference play with a 77-40 victory over Air Force on Wednesday. Janita Badon just missed a triple-double, scoring 19 points with 10 assists and nine rebounds.
The Utes are the only team with three players in the top 10 of the conference standings in scoring. Iwalani Rodrigues is eighth with 14.4 points per game, followed by Badon (13.1) and Michelle Plouffe (13.1), in ninth and 10th, respectively.
San Diego State ended its non-conference season with a .500 record of 6-6. The Aztecs dropped their MWC opener on Wednesday, falling to TCU, 49-47, despite holding the Horned Frogs without a field goal over the final six minutes and cutting a 14-point second-half deficit down to two points.
"They have three seniors who have a lot of experience," Levrets said about the Aztecs. "They play very well in transition. Their pressure on defense can cause a lot of problems for teams."
Utah holds a 30-14 all-time record against the Aztecs. Last year, each team won on its home court during the regular season, while SDSU beat the Utes in the MWC Tournament championship game in overtime.
