SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team began fall practice on Oct. 4 in preparation for its inaugural season in the Pac-12.
"I have been very pleased with our effort as we have begun to get ready to play," said head coach Anthony Levrets. "We are still very young, but our effort has been fabulous. If we are able to stay healthy we have a chance to be very good by the time the year is over."
Utah finished the 2010-11 season with an 18-17 record, becoming the first No. 5 seed to win the Mountain West Conference Tournament and reaching the NCAA Tournament for the 17th time in its history. Utah returns four starters from that team, including MWC Tournament MVP Janita Badon and 2011 MWC Freshman of the Year Michelle Plouffe. Also returning from a redshirt year is 2010 MWC Freshman of the Year Taryn Wicijowski.
The Utes will have a `Meet The Team' night on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Season tickets are on sale through www.UtahTickets.com and 1-801-581-UTIX (8849).
