With the start to the women's basketball season just around the corner, UtahUtes.com will be spotlighting the members of the women's basketball team in `Getting to Know.' Today we start with Taryn Wicijowski, who is returning from a redshirt season after tearing her ACL early last year.
What is your favorite basketball memory?
Beating Australia in the 2009 U19 World Championships to get into the medal rounds - finishing fourth, Canada's best ever!
What is your favorite sport besides basketball?
Hockey
What do you like to do when you are not playing basketball?
Watch movies, sleep, hang out with friends.
Why did you choose Utah? What is the best thing about Utah?
I chose Utah because of the program's tradition and the family feel of the team.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My parents. They have always supported me unconditionally in everything I do.
My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
The mountains.
The teammate I most admire is who, and why?
Michelle Plouffe, because of her unbelievable work ethic. She pushes me to be better every single day. She puts 100% into every play, every drill, every game, every practice.
What do you like best about Coach Levrets?
His passion for the game.
What are your goals for this year?
To get back to the player I was before my injury, to finish at the top of the Pac-12 and make a deep NCAA run!
What are your pregame superstitions?
I always put my left shoe on first.
What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate?
I major in biology and psychology with a minor in chemistry. I want to be a doctor.
