WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Utah's Michelle Plouffe was named Bank of the West Pac-12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 6-12, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today, marking the first Conference weekly women's basketball honor for Utah.
Plouffe averaged 18.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 3.0 blocks in two games last weekend, leading the Utes to their first-ever Pac-12 weekend series sweep. Plouffe knocked down a key three-pointer to put Utah ahead by four with 1:29 remaining in the game versus Arizona State. Utah eventually defeated ASU, 50-46, with Plouffe tallying a team-high 14 points and seven rebounds. She also added a career-high tying four blocks. She followed up with a dominant performance in the 73-67 win over Arizona, tallying 22 points and 12 rebounds, also going 7-for-13 from the floor with three assists and a pair of blocks. She scored 13 in the second half alone, breaking open a close game that saw the Wildcats leading by five points at the break.
The team's scoring leader averaging 14.4 ppg, Plouffe ranks eighth in the Pac-12 in the category. She is also tied for fourth in the conference with teammate Taryn Wicijowski, in rebounding average, grabbing 8.5 boards per game.
The Utes travel to Colorado on Saturday, Feb. 18. The game will be televised on ROOT Sports.
