Utah vs. Kansas State Game Notes ![]()
SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's basketball team will travel to Kansas State for the semifinals of the WNIT on Wednesday, April 3, at 7:00 p.m. CT.
Just four teams remain in the WNIT. Utah is 4-0 in the tournament, defeating Long Beach State, San Diego, Pacific and Saint Mary's. Three of the four games have been on the road. The Utes played three games last week, beginning with San Diego on Monday, Pacific on Thursday and Saint Mary's on Saturday.
"We are tough," Levrets said. "We have managed to win three road games in this tournament. We have also won three games in one week - two of three on the road. To do that you have to have kids who are tough. You're not going to always feel good, physically, when you are playing like this, but they have a fortitude about them."
Utah has won 11 of its last 14 games.
The Utes have never played in April in their history. Utah will also be playing its school-record 36th game of the season.
Kansas State is 19-17 on the season and went 14-4 in the Big 12. The Utes and Wildcats have not played any common opponents this season.
"Kansas State is a really hot basketball team right now," Levrets said. "They have good players and create a difficult environment to play in. It's going to be a tough challenge getting there, but it's going to be an adventure and we'll have a great time with it. Whenever that ball gets thrown up in the air we're going to find a way to compete. It's fun to be playing this time of year."
Utah is 3-2 all-time against Kansas State. The last meetings between the two teams were a home-and-home in 1997 and 1998, with the Utes winning both games.
