SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Michelle Plouffe put up a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, but the Utes fell to California 68-59 on Sunday.
Four of five starters scored in double-digits for Utah.
Utah (7-8, 0-4) closed to within a point, 36-35, on a Cheyenne Wilson jumper early in the second half, and got to within three, 50-47, on a Ciera Dunbar layup with 5:14 left, before California pulled away.
Brittany Boyd scored 24 points and hauled in seven rebounds for California.
California (12-3, 4-0 Pac-12) opened up an early lead with a 9-0 run capped by a Mikayla Lyles 3-pointer that made it 28-15, and held on to the advantage the rest of the game.
Reshanda Gray contributed 15 points and seven rebounds in the win for the Golden Bears.
