The University of Utah women's basketball team continues its Pac-12 Conference home weekend in the Jon M. Huntsman Center against Washington TODAY at 3 p.m. MT.
Utah is 10-14 overall through 24 games and the Utes are 3-10 in league play. The Utes are 7-5 at home overall and have split their last four Pac-12 contests at home.
Washington has a 14-10 mark this season and is 7-6 against Pac-12 competition. The Huskies have won four of their last five games, including an 87-80 win at Colorado on Feb. 14 after an 87-82 victory over then-No. 2 Stanford on Feb. 9.
Washington State Review: Utah suffered an 83-73 loss to Washington State on Feb. 14 in a Pac-12 in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The Utes set a new Pac-12 season high with 73 points after shooting 50.9 (29-57) from the floor as a team.
Plouffe's Points: Senior forward Michelle Plouffe (Edmonton, Alberta) scored career-high 31 points on Feb. 14 against Washington State that also came with 11 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season. She now has nine games this year with 20 or more points and she has had 10 or more points in 20 of 22 games that she has played in this season. Plouffe also gave out five assists against the Cougars.
Plouffe's Record Book Update: Plouffe is fifth in school history with 1,957 career points and is now seven points away from tying Kalee Whipple (1,964 from 2006-10) for fourth on the list. Plouffe is second in school history with 1,092 career rebounds and is now 15 rebounds away from passing Anne Handy (1,106 from 1981-85) for the school record.
Marvelous Malia: Freshman guard Malia Nawahine (Springville, Utah) has been in double-digits in points twice in Utah's last three games, averaging 11.7 points and 2.3 assists per contest. Nawahine knocked down six of her seven shots for 14 points on Feb. 14 against Washington State and also chased down five rebounds and had four assists. This was her fifth game with 10 or more points this season. She got off to a fast start after hitting her first four shots for nine points in the first half of the contest.
