The Utes picked up a 65-53 first-round win over sixth-seeded Washington in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament on Mar. 6 to highlight the end of its season as the University of Utah women's basketball team closed its 2013-14 campaign.
Utah went 12-19 overall with a 4-14 mark in league play.

Pac-12 Tournament First-Round Recap: Eleventh-seeded Utah picked up a 65-53 win over sixth-seeded Washington on Mar. 6 in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament at KeyArena. Utah was 10-4 this season when holding its opponents below 60 points and the Utes limited Washington to a 25.5 shooting percentage (14-55) to go with a 48-37 rebounding edge.
Pac-12 Tournament Quarterfinal Recap: Utah finished its season with a 50-35 loss to Oregon State in a Pac-12 Tournament Quarterfinal contest on Mar. 8 at KeyArena. The Utes allowed the fewest points among Pac-12 teams during the tournament, limiting Washington and Oregon State to 51.5 points per game. Utah also held its opponents to a .292 shooting percentage, which also led all teams in the tournament.
Utah's Pac-12 Tournament History: Utah went 1-1 in its third Pac-12 Tournament appearance in school history and the Utes are 2-3 all-time in the tournament. The Utes went 1-1 in 2013, picking up a first-round win over Arizona (66-48) before bowing out after a 54-43 loss to UCLA in the second round. Utah played in its first Pac-12 Tournament in 2012 as the seventh seed and fell in the first round to 10th-seeded Colorado, 67-54.
Utes in Extra Time: In its first overtime game of the season, Utah earned an 82-74 double-OT win at BYU in a Deseret First Credit Union Duel contest on Dec. 14 in the Marriott Center. Utah shot 50.0 (5-10) from the floor during the overtime periods, compared to 12.5 (2-16) for BYU.
The Utes handed the Cougars their first loss of the season and this was Utah's first win over BYU since Mar. 11, 2011 and their first victory in Provo since Jan. 28, 2009.
Primetime Plouffe: Senior forward Michelle Plouffe (Edmonton, Alberta) was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Teams by both the coaches and media and was also selected to the league's all-defensive team by the coaches.
Plouffe was second in the Pac-12 Tournament statistics with 3.5 steals per game, third with 39.5 minutes per game, fourth with 12.5 rebounds per game, tied for fourth with 9.5 defensive rebounds, eighth with 20.5 points, 11th with 1.5 blocks, and tied for 12th with 3.0 offensive rebounds for the Utes.
Plouffe poured in 30 points off an 11-for-24 shooting performance to go with nine rebounds in the first round on Mar. 6 against Washington. Plouffe posted her 13th game with 20 or more points this season.
Plouffe scored 11 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds for her 15th double-double of the season in the quarterfinals on Mar. 7 against Oregon State.
She turned in double-figures in points in 27 of 29 contests she played in this season and recorded double-digits in boards 16 times this season.
Plouffe was second in the Pac-12 with 8.4 defensive rebounds per game and third in the league in total rebounds at 10.6 per game (27th in NCAA).
Showing why she is one of the most complete players in the Pac-12, Plouffe is listed among the league leaders in four other categories.
Plouffe was third with 15 double-doubles (29th in NCAA), sixth (90th in NCAA) in steals (2.1 per game), seventh in scoring (18.4 ppg) (75th in NCAA) and minutes (34.9 per game), and 14th in blocks (0.8 bpg). She also had a .406 (187-461) shooting percentage (239th in NCAA).
Plouffe Piles Up the POW Awards: Plouffe was named the espnW National Player of the Week on Dec. 16. She posted team-high marks of 22.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game for the Utes in a pair of victories in in-state games. She also had seven steals (3.5 per game) and distributed five assists (2.5 per game) against Utah Valley and BYU. Plouffe ended the Dec. 14 BYU game with a game-high 24 points and a game-high 13 rebounds to go with three assists and three steals. She was 10-of-12 at the free throw line and connected on two of her four 3-point attempts.
Tracking Plouffe: With 2,100 career points and a school-record 1,155 rebounds, Plouffe ended her career one of three Utes to accumulate over 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds over their respective careers at Utah. The other members of the club are Kim Smith (2,281 points and 1,015 rebounds from 2002-06) and Deb Asper (2,075 points and 1,042 rebounds from 1980-84).
Plouffe is second in school history with 2,100 career points and is the fourth player in school history to join the 2,000-point club. She is also second in school history in career blocks (149), tied for second (8.8 with Amber McEwen from 1994-96) in rebounding average and fourth in scoring average (15.8).
Potter on Pac-12 All-Freshman Teams: Forward Emily Potter (Winnipeg, Manitoba) was selected to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team by both the coaches and media. Potter tied for 10th among Pac-12 players with 7.0 defensive rebounds per game in the tournament and ranked 11th with 10.0 rebounds per game, tied for 12th with 3.0 offensive rebounds per game and tied for 27th with 11.0 points per game.
Potter recorded her fourth double-double of the season in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament on Mar. 6 versus Washington with a game-high 15 rebounds and 12 points.
She registered 17 games with double-figures in points. Potter then posted 10 points to go with five rebounds in the quarterfinals against Oregon State on Mar. 7. She had 16 games with 10 or more points this season.
Potter was third in the Pac-12 (124th in NCAA) in blocked shots (1.4 per game). Potter was also seventh in field goal percentage (.459, 141-307), 13th in defensive rebounds (5.0 drpg), 15th in rebounding (6.7 per game) and 26th in the league in scoring (10.5 per game). She led Pac-12 freshmen in blocks, total rebounding, defensive rebounding and shooting, and was fourth in scoring.
In conference games only, Potter was fourth in blocks (1.4 bpg), 12th in defensive rebounds (5.2 drpg), 15th in total rebounds (6.8 rpg) and tied for 29th in scoring (9.3 ppg).
Dimes From Dani: Sophomore guard Danielle Rodriguez (Downey, Calif.) tied for second among all Pac-12 players with 5.0 assists per game during the tournament and ranked fifth with a 2.5 (10-4) assist-to-turnover ratio.
Rodriguez scored 10 points, her 13th game with double-figures, and distributed a team-high five assists in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament on Mar. 6 against Washington. She then had six points with five rebounds, while handing out a game-high five assists in the quarterfinals on Mar. 7 against Oregon State.
Rodriguez was third in the Pac-12 (128th in NCAA) with 4.3 assists per game this season and ranked fourth (74th in NCAA) in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9, 133-71). She was sixth in the Pac-12 in minutes played (35.3 mpg).
In league games only, Rodriguez was fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6, 64-41) and assists (3.6 apg), eighth in minutes (34.9 mpg) and 14th in blocks (0.8 bpg).
Dunbar From Deep: Senior guard Ciera Dunbar (Elko, Nev.) set a career high with 14 points on Feb. 27 against USC, including a flawless 9-for-9 effort at the foul line and she also grabbed four rebounds against the Women of Troy.
Dunbar then grabbed a career-high six rebounds to go with four points on Mar. 2 against UCLA. She turned in five double-digit-point games this season and was 15th in the Pac-12 with a .345 (30-87) clip from 3-point territory. She finished 10th in the league-only stats with a .386 mark (17-44) from beyond the arc.
Wilson Shows Range: Junior guard Cheyenne Wilson (Seattle, Wash.) turned in a pair of eight-point, two-assist performances in the final weekend of the regular season on Mar. 2 against UCLA and Feb. 27 versus USC.
Wilson finished eighth in the conference with a .383 (44-115) clip from beyond the arc and was 15th with 1.4 3's per game. In the league-only stats, Wilson was 12th with a .379 (25-66) mark from distance. In four games from Jan. 29 through Feb. 10, Wilson shot .559 (19-34) from the field and .538 (7-13) from 3-point range and averaged 12.3 points, 3.3 assists during that stretch.
