Utah competitors go 1-2 on the day
Tulsa, OK – After a promising start at the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday, the Utes struggled on the second day of play. Junior Egbert Weverink earned the only victory for Utah, defeating Mike Psarross of UMKC in a close 3-set match, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in a consolation match.
In the third round of the pre-qualifying draw, sophomore Joe Woolley struggled to find any kind of rhythm against Texas Tech's Connor Curry and was easily defeated 6-3, 6-0.
After losing the first set, senior Parker McGuiness posted an impressive comeback against a former No. 1 junior player in the U.S., Joseph DiGuilio (UCLA), but saw his efforts unrewarded 6-1, 7-6(5).
The Utes will continue play in Tulsa on Monday in the qualifying draw. Sophomore David Micevski will compete in singles action while Weverink and Woolley will pair up to play in the doubles draw. Both draws and match times will be posted later today.
